I am a blog virgin. I admit it. But here I am, inspired by my friend Marisa (a different Marisa...I am trying to confuse everyone already), getting my blog on. So, please be patient with me as I familiarize myself with this site and try to adjust my profile/settings/background/etc.
Ultimately, my purpose here is to share myself with people a little better. I am not always the most open when it comes to my personal life (which might be a good thing, I don't know...), but instead, I tend to joke and laugh, which I plan to continue to do on here. Another purpose for this blog is to follow my journey through weight loss, and make you all keep me accountable! Now, before you get too excited, I am NOT sharing my exact weight with anyone except my Weight Watchers leader, but I do have to report to you guys how I am doing. Maybe some of you will be able to identify with my struggles, my triumphs, and the many adventures that I am sure are bound to take place. 2011 is the year of TRYING NEW THINGS. So here it goes!
A little background:
I began losing weight at the beginning of November, and took a brief hiatus during the Christmas season. Between November 5th and December 15th, I lost a total of about 17 pounds. OK, so I gained back 6 of those during Christmas (thanks a lot, See's Candy and endless mountains of simple carbohydrates), but I joined Weight Watchers this month, and I am happily back on track. My first meeting happened a week and a half ago, and when I weighed in after a week, I dropped an awesome 5.4 pounds. I rounded up to six since I was wearing jeans...I always feel like denim is heavier, yes? But whatever...not bad for a week's work. Best part? I haven't been hungry at all (bless you, giant banana, for you are worth 0 points and I can eat you without counting you!). The hardest part for me so far is getting my butt to the gym. I have made it over there a couple times now. Is anyone else a little intimidated by the big muscley sweaty dudes in spandex with their protein shakes and heavy grunting? Well, I am! So, this is why I really want to go to the gym for the Group X classes, like Zumba, Hip Hop, 24 S.E.T., and Camp 24. But tonight, to my disappointment, Zumba class was full, and I was forced to ellipticate (that's my word for "perform cardiovascular exercise upon the elliptical trainer) next to a sweaty spandex man. Blehh. Go lift your weights, you big gorilla!
So that is me, up-to-date. Aside from that, I had a fabulous morning at M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers, for those of you who don't know), enjoyed our tea & testimony, and then picked Jacob up from his MOPPETS class. I love how he usually reacts when I pick him up. I excitedly squeak "Hi Jakey!!! Did you have fun today?!" He turns his little face to acknowledge my presence for about half a second, then goes back to whatever he was doing. Glad to see you missed me, kid!
Well, for all of you who are curious, my weigh-ins occur every Saturday, so if I don't post my progress by Sunday night, you all have my permission to hound me until I do...whether I lose, maintain, or (GOD FORBID) gain...I am required by law (or at least my own conscience) to post my results. Hope y'alls have a good night. Oh, and my sign off is always going to be some sort of song lyric or quote, so get used to that. For tonight, I leave you with this:
"Let's get down to business to defeat the Huns. Did they send me daughters when I asked for sons?" - Mulan
Awe! I inspired you! [blushes] I can't wait to your progress. =)
